Hi - my name is Sherman and I am almost 11 years old. A couple of Good Samaritans rescued me from the pound and am very grateful. I came into RAGOM 2 weeks ago and my life is completely different now. I am being treated for a lot of medical issues including hip dysplasia, arthritis, underactive thyroid, ear and skin issues, lyme disease and a bit of a weight problem ☺ ☺  The meds are helping me a lot and I feel much better already. I have had a few good baths and I believe my ear infection is about cleared up. I have a vet recheck appt on 3/21 so will keep you updated.

I love my walks...they are short but so much fun. Especially the park where I get to see people, children and sometimes other dogs. Mom says I am good with dogs, love people and children, but I prefer the older, less active children. I have a fenced yard which I think is a good idea because I used to roam free and I think if I got out I may wander a bit. I am 100% house trained and have free roam while Mom is at work all day. I do go in the kennel when asked though.Sherman16022c2.jpgMom has me on a diet and I have to admit, I'm doing a tad better with a few less pounds; will see my progress when we go to the vet. If you would like to meet me, I will be at Leashes and Leads next Saturday, 3/19 at 10 am -- I may not be able to stay the full time however. Oh, I ride really well in the car as well. I can't jump in, so we have a handy portable foldup ramp we use and I walk right up it with no problem.Hope to see you soon,ShermanSherman16022c3.jpg

Happy Spring!  Happy Spring! From Briana B. In memory of Angel

Happy Mother's Day from Sherman!

I've been watching Sherman while his foster mom (FM) is on vacation. He's such a sweetheart & easy going. He takes a few pills which I have been putting in his dish with his kibble & broccoli and he gobbles them up. He had his foot growths removed on Wednesday & at his recheck on Saturday, the vet was very pleased with his healing. Stitches come out later so he's still not permitted to be as active as he is used to yet. His FM took him on walks twice a day which he enjoyed & looks forward to doing again soon.

Sherman met some new people at the meet & greet at Petco yesterday, May 7th. He happily gave kisses to a few. His comfy cone came off so he could show off his good looks & dreamy eyes.

Sherman is totally housebroken even though he's staying at a new home & with new people & pets. He ignores the cats who continue to sniff at him & even the one who hissed at him. His comfy cone must make him look scary to the cat. It's only temporary while he's healing.

Sherman is still looking for his forever home. If he looks like a good fit for yours, please click the Adoption button to the left & fill out the inquiry for Application form or contact your placement advisor.

Happy Spring everyone! Thank you to everyone who came out to see Sherman at the Shakopee meet & greet. A special thank you to Don & Katherine who drove along way to see him--I think you know how you will always be his special angels ❤️. Sherman is his usual loveable self but his foot growths have taken on a life of their own and he will have them removed this Wednesday . Please keep him in your thoughts as this will be hard on him. He continues to be loved by everyone who meets him. While I am out of town, a foster angel will babysit & care for him 😊.

So Sherman passed his "cat test" last night with my niece's cat, Louie. He gave him kisses! Louie, however, was not particularly fond of Mr. Sherman, vocally expressing disapproval at his advances. Sherman was very respectful, although I think his feelings were hurt - he thinks everyone should love him.

He also had a vet checkup this week and he is down to 77#, so we think that is great for his joints and will try to keep him 75-77#. He seems to move around better and be more active - even if he is always in the kitchen looking for something that might accidentally fall on the floor. T4 was tested and will have those results soon. Allergies are under control now and he is on 50mg of Rimadyl twice a day.

Howdy folks! Sherman here...hope everyone had a nice Easter.
Well, Mom takes me every week for a bath for my allergy skin so I thought I would show you what I look like during that process!

Everyone at PetCo knows me now and I know where are ALL the treats are on the bottom shelves when we check out!!!!! Mom says next time I will be put in the car first, 'cause I am very sneaky about stealing. Last week I got a pig's ear!
The other photo is of me sleeping in my bed -- these walks are killing me. Actually I sort of enjoy them, especially when we meet other humans or dogs; I really pick up my pace then. We are up to a mile in the morning and afternoon. I am down 2 more pounds so am pretty proud of myself - have a great week!

Wow we have been busy! We had an exciting weekend in Rochester with my Mom and her old Shih Tzu who is a bit crabby. Sherman settled in just like he had lived there his whole life and did not let the little dog bother him. My Mom loved Sherman and of course feels sorry for him but then that's what "Grandmas" do. Our meet and greet at Leashes & Leads outside of Rochester was fun and boy are there tons of toys there - Sherman found a treat on one of the lower shelves I had to pull him off of. He was overstimulated with all the nice foster/resident Goldens there and wanted to play, but we also met some nice folks who stopped by.
Yesterday he met with the veterinarian who would like to put off surgery for a while as we adjust his medications -- we are going to reduce his pain meds and see how he does; we will also add more fish oil and joint supplements. We will follow up later in April to see how he is improving.
NOW for the great news - he is down to 84# - yes!!! We have more to go but I see so much more movement now than 3 weeks ago...his real personality is starting to shine through.😁
