Ruby 17-092TD

Profile

Ruby is a sweet purebred Golden Retriever who came to America from the country of Turkey. Ruby has worn many of her teeth down to almost nothing and is going to have several more teeth removed in mid June. Ruby and I want to thank the wonderful Angels who donated money to get her dental work done. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Miss Ruby is pure love! She craves attention and is coming out of her shell more every day. She loves to sleep in bed and snuggle. Ruby needs to be by her people and requires a home where she will not be left alone for long periods of time. She was very uncertain of walking on a leash at first but now walks wagging her tail. Ruby is a perfect name for her because she is a gem!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!  This year all I asked for was a home and family I can call my very own.  My wishes included lots of love, attention, food and a soft bed to lay my head.  My wishes have come true!  I have been adopted by a loving family who adores me!  They told me I am perfect and they will love me and take care of me forever!  I also have a Golden Retriever and a Golden Doodle brother.  My mom and dad tell me I am their only fur baby girl so it makes me very special.

May all your Christmas wishes come true!  I know mine have.

Merry Christmas,

Love, Ruby

Hi everyone it's me Ruby.  I had dental work done and had 12 teeth pulled.  Yes, that's right....12 teeth!  All 12 of my incisors pulled, 6 on the top and 6 on the bottom.  That wasn't the worst part, they put me in a kennel before and after surgery.  I have terrible separation anxiety if I'm kenneled.  I tried so hard to get out of that kennel but I couldn't get out!  I pulled out my IV.   My doctor then gave me a pill to relax and it was better.  They tried to take me out for a potty break but I sat down and would not go with them.  All I wanted was to go home!  I was so happy when my foster daddy came to get me that I didn't even think about any pain in my mouth, I just wanted my foster home.

My mouth has healed very nicely and it's good I got those bad teeth removed.  My doctor said I had some other teeth that may have to be removed at a later date but I don't even want to think about that at this time.  I  again want to thank all those great people who paid for my dental work.  You have made my mouth feel so much better! Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!

This week we will be celebrating Thanksgiving.  This will be my first Thanksgiving in the USA and I'm very excited.  Foster mom and dad said we will eat turkey.  I was a little confused because I used to live in Turkey....how can you eat a country?  Then it was explained to me that turkey is a bird that is cooked and is kind of like an overgrown chicken.  I think I will like it!  Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks.  I have so many things to be thankful for, especially RAGOM!  I am so thankful for all the people who are responsible for my rescue and I hope all four legged friends are as lucky as I am.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,

Ruby

Hi everyone, it's me, Ruby!  I have some great news to share!  My thyroid problem is under control and I don't have to have it checked for another year!  I was getting very tired of having blood drawn.  The last time I went I sat down, put my brakes on and would not go with the vet tech.  I was protesting having blood drawn!  Guess what?  I didn't win, I had to have my blood drawn.  At my next vet appointment I am going to have a dental.  Can't wait to show everyone my pearly whites!  Some really nice people donated money to RAGOM so I can have this done.  Thank you to all of you!  You are PAWSOME!

I'm loving this fall weather!  I get to go on longer walks.  When I first got to Minnesota I was afraid to go far from my foster home but now I'm all about going on adventures!  Life for me is Golden!

I had an amazing time at Goldzilla last Sunday!  I met many new great friends and I got to see my friend Siyami whom I lived with in Turkey before coming to America.  I am so thankful for Emel and Siyami for taking me in and giving me a chance for a true Golden life!  At Goldzilla there was a board with pictures of all foster dogs and my picture was one of them.  There were some really nice people who bought a paw print for me.  Thank you so much!  I also got to be in the foster parade! There were many booths set up with fun things to do and my foster brother Otis and I got a lot of treats!  When Goldzilla came to an end we walked down to the beach.  Long Lake has a beautiful sandy beach and there were tons of tennis balls floating in the water.  My foster brother Otis ran in the lake but I was a little afraid.  My foster mom threw a ball in the lake and I forgot my fears and went after it.  I loved the water!  I again felt like a young puppy with no cares in the world!  I truly am living the Golden life!

This week I will have more blood work to see if my thyroid is under control.  Wish me luck!  After that I need to have dental work and then hopefully I won't have to go to the vet for awhile.

I hope everyone in RAGOMland has a great weekend.

Love, Ruby

It's been awhile since I updated everyone and I apologize.  I have been very busy lately.  My foster mom is a dog groomer and I go to work every day and supervise.  It's a big job but I am very good at it unless I'm tired, then I just take a nap!  Last week it was my turn to be groomed, my foster mom said I had clown feet.  I was a very good girl and I look so very adorable!

I had to go to the vet today and have blood work done for my thyroid.  I have to get new medicine because I still have a hyperthyroid.  In another three to four weeks I will have another blood test.  As soon as they get this under control I will have dental work.
Last weekend my foster mom made homemade dog treats and I got to be the taste tester!  The treats have vegetables and peanut butter and other dog friendly things and I love them!  I offered to help mix them but I was told no!
I hope everyone is going to Goldzilla on September 10th!  I'll be there!  I'm so excited!  My foster brother Otis who is also from Turkey went last year and he told me all about it!  Otis told me there are many dogs and people and fun things to do!  He said we can even go swimming!  I can't wait!

Hello everyone, it's me, Ruby!  I have some very good news!  My doctor tested my urine and there is no more blood or crystals!  My new food is doing it's job!  They also tested my thyroid and now it's too high so I have to cut back on my medication and have it checked in three weeks.  I don't mind going to see my doctor because everyone there is very nice to me and I just love everyone!

It's been so hot here in Minnesota so I haven't been able to go for very long walks so yesterday my foster mom, dad and four legged foster brother went shopping and I got to walk all over the store.  This was my first shopping day and I think I could become a shopaholic!  I had a great time and the workers and shoppers at the store were all petting me and my brother.  I got to pick out my own treat and there it was on the bottom shelf!  A beautiful bone filled with some really wonderful filling inside.  When we went to the clerk to pay for our purchases the nice lady behind the counter gave us a treat!  I love shopping!

In two days I will be celebrating the 4th of July in the USA!  I never dreamed a year ago I would be living in a house with people who love me and take good care of me.  I am so lucky RAGOM and my friend Emel rescued me!  Since my last update I have been back to the vet and my doctor stuck a needle in my bladder and extracted urine to culture it.  The culture did not grow anything but I still have crystals.  I started on a new food that will hopefully get rid of those crystals.  They also drew blood again and found that I have a hypothyroid.  I now am on medication for that.  In four weeks I have to have my urine and thyroid rechecked.

My foster mom said I cannot live with small children because of my health problems, nor other active dogs.  Some times my back bothers me and I cannot have anyone jump on me.
Okay enough about health problems, lets talk about all the good stuff!  I am head over heels in love with cantaloupe!  I got my first taste of this wonderful fruit last week and it's my favorite fruit!  I also got a new therapeutic bed and it is so soft and comfy!  My foster mom and dad spoil me and I love it!

Hi everyone, it's me, Ruby, checking in with all my fans on this gloomy Sunday.  I've been to the vet several times since my last update.  I just can't seem to get rid of those crystals in my urine.  The good news is that I don't have any crystals in my kidneys.  The bad news is that when they did x-rays my vet found that I have severe spondylosis/spondylitis which means my whole spine is fused.  They also discovered I have hip dysplasia and arthritis.  This all sounds very scary but I am still a happy girl despite my few medical problems.  I take pills every day to lubricate my joints and I still get to go for walks because it's important to keep my muscles strong.  My foster mom and dad say I'm perfect so I think I'm pretty special!  My vet is putting off my dental for awhile until they get my urine problem under control and that's just fine with me.

This morning we had loud thunder and a lot of rain.  The storm didn't bother me at all but my brother goes around in circles and pants.  I thought this was weird because I know thunder will not hurt me.  My foster mom was very proud of me and said she's glad I don't have storm anxiety.  Since it's a rainy day foster mom said I could have a spa day with a lot of brushing.  I love to be brushed, it feels so good!

Hi everyone it's me Ruby!  I just wanted to check in with all my people to let them know how happy I am to be living in America.  I now have dog beds, people beds and couches to lay my little Golden head on.  I do love to go on walks with my four legged brother Otis and my foster daddy says I walk so nice.

Last week I was not feeling real well and had an accident in the house.  I had to go to my doctor and sure enough I had an infection.  There was a little girl at my doctor's office who really liked me and kept petting me.  She said she was "fluffing my head".  I loved getting my head fluffed!  I got medicine and I'm feeling much better!  It's not a bad thing getting sick because then my foster family really treats me like a baby.

Miss Ruby, who is around seven years old, came from the country of Turkey to America on April 28th.  She was one of the lucky ones who got to come with Emel.  Ruby had a hard life living chained up but then Emel found her and rescued her.  Miss Ruby had an ear infection which is now cleared up.  Her teeth have been worn down from chewing on who knows what and she also has some teeth that will be removed in mid June.  Ruby and I want to thank the angels who donated money to get her dental work done.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  Ruby is also dealing with itchy skin and we are working on getting that under control.  Ruby will not be available for adoption until her dental work is complete.

When Ruby came to our home she was a little unsure of what living in a house was but quickly adjusted.  She slept in bed with me from day one and loved to snuggle.  She has never messed in the house and is a very good girl.  It took Ruby almost one week before she jumped up on the couch, but when she did she acted so proud of herself!  The first walk with her and our Golden Otis went well but she walked with her tail tucked between her tail and was very unsure of the whole ordeal.  Now Ruby walks with her tail wagging!  There have been many firsts for this sweet girl and it's so rewarding to see her blossom.

Ruby will need someone who is home a great deal of the time as she loves to be by her people.  Another dog would be helpful to continue to build her confidence.  She is not one who likes to play but found she does like to chew on dog bones.  Ruby is very laid back and is very content just being a couch potato.  Ruby is a great name for her because she is a gem!
