Smoozer 08-045

Profile

Smoozer arrived at my house this afternoon. She is a 5 year old, thin (I will get some weight on her), long-legged lady. She definitely wants to please and just be loved.

I wanted to get some quick pictures on the web site to show how beautiful she is. Unfortunately, she is still exploring the new sounds and smells and doesn't want to sit still. These pictures do not do her justice.

I will write more as I get to know this sweet thing.

My heart is breaking and the tears won’t stop. Smoozer is the most beautiful mix of Golden Retriever and German Shepard who is the most perfect and beautiful dog I have ever known. Smoozer has a gentle, loving soul, and was quite the diva. She was very particular about what she would eat but that was the only challenge we had. She loved all people and loved her friends Desi, Diesel and Vlad who came to play. She was a quiet, unassuming pup who only wanted to please. All those who met her always commented on how beautiful and sweet she is.

Smoozer came to me as a foster after having been given a behavioral evaluation due to a fight she had with her sister. The evaluation said she should be an only dog or maybe could get along with a submissive male. It only took a couple months to know that she was not a foster, she was a forever family member. Smoozer turned out to be a great sister to most of the fosters we have had in our home.

After 8 years of having the honor of being her mom, Smoozer began to go down hill quickly. Her liver started to fail and the very painful decision was made to let her cross the bridge. On Sunday, May 29 Smoozer was home, in her bed surrounded by love when she was helped to the bridge. I held her and told her how special she is as she peacefully left me to go where she will be pain free. I know she was met at the bridge by her special human friend Rich, and foster siblings Tucker, Keeper and Bo.

All the dogs I have had and lost to the rainbow bridge were painful to lose but Smoozer is that special dog that is an exceptional loss. I reach over on the couch to pet her and she is not there. She doesn’t come over to my bed to say good night and I will never get another kiss from my beautiful girl.

I love you sweet girl, the pain of your loss is overwhelming and time will ease the pain but you will forever be in my heart.

From Smoozer's forever family...

Smoozer was adopted one year ago and has come a long way. As you can see from the pictures she has gained weight and is just beautiful. She has a very dainty demeanor and is a total diva.
