Ever is a beautiful, happy, 6 year old female that is glad to be with RAGOM, and no longer a puppy mill momma!  Don't let her past fool you though, Ever is not your typical puppy mill dog!  When Ever first got home yesterday, we opened her crate in the backyard, hoping that she'd be brave enough to come out and see us...and boy was she ever!  She jumped right out and came up to me for attention and pets, and sat her bottom right down next to me for as much loving as she could get.  Then she explored the backyard, sniffed everything...and even picked up a tennis ball and ran around with it!

We put a collar and leash on Ever and she didn't mind one bit.  Ever met the other dogs and did just fine, but her true love seems to be humans.  Ever will follow you around and I have no doubt she'd be happiest if she was showered with attention at all times.  This is very easy to do because she is a happy, sweet girl.  Even though she's 6 years old, she still acts like a girl who has all the energy and love for the world that a 2, 3, or 4 year old would.  In fact, if she didn't have some white hairs on her face, we'd never believe she was 6 years old!

Another very exciting piece of news to report is that Ever seems to enjoy toys!  At first we thought it might only be tennis balls (she really loves tennis balls, squeaky balls, any kind!), but earlier today she was chewing on a rope, and then just a bit ago she was working hard on a plastic bone!  She even had a Greenie earlier, which she really seemed to enjoy!

At the moment, (and for the past hour or two) Ever has been in the bedroom with us, being groomed.  Ever came to us full of hard, thick mats, that made her look very much like a porcupine!  We were very happy when we realized that many of these mats were only tangled in her fur, but not actually connected to her, so they've been coming out quite well.  And Ever has been an incredible trooper, she's laid on the dog bed and relished in her one on one human attention!  After all the mats come out, Ever will be ready for bath #3, and hopefully by the end of today, Ever will smell as beautiful as she looks!

Ever will be going to the vet this week for a check up and to see when she can get spayed.  Ever is 6 years old, and the oldest of all the dogs from this puppy mill...so we're sure she's had her fair share of puppies over the years.  Her belly seems in pretty good shape though, it doesn't look like she's had a litter too recently.  She does have an unfortunately high number of hot spots, which is understandable given most of her body was covered in mats!  So I'm sure the vet will give us some medicine to start treating those immediately.

Ever doesn't seem like she's going to need another dog in the house.  Ever seems to get along fine with the other dogs, but her #1 favorite thing in life is definitely HUMAN LOVE.  So being in a house where she can get all the love and attention would be fine with her!  Ever is one of the happiest dogs I've ever met, and she is just thrilled by anything you give her, even if it's an old, dirty tennis ball!  If you're looking for a dog to love, spoil, and adore...who will love, adore and cherish you in return, this happy, little girl is for you!  We'll have more updates I'm sure very soon, as we are having a great time learning about her.  We'll definitely let you know how her vet visit goes too!

It is with sadness today that I write to tell you that my dear dog, Sally (Ever 07-528) passed away today, due to old age and weakness.  She was 16!

When I got her 9 years ago, she was a deeply damaged, puppy mill mama, who had never lived inside or even knew that humans could love her.  While rocky those first few months, she and I have had wonderful nine years together, and she has been the kindest, friendliest, most affable dog.

I am so grateful to RAGOM for rescuing that sweet dog and for giving me such a wonderful companion.

What's in a name?  Ever should be called "Easy" because that's how she is.  She  knows how to sit, she doesn't require constant attention, she's just a fun-loving carefree dog!  She isn't bothered by the vacuum cleaner or the leaf blower or any of those loud things, she's just happy to sit by your side.

Yesterday Ever went to the vet and received a clean bill of health, except for a minor ear problem.  So, she got a thorough ear cleaning and some  ear drops.  She's gaining weight and eating well.  She gets along really well with our resident golden.  Although, I think she'd be fine in a home with no dogs.  She plays with our golden, but would be happy as the only golden as well.

Ever will be a great companion for someone...

Ever is doing great!  Its hard to believe she was a puppy mill dog.  She is very sweet, gentle, and mellow.  As I type this, she is relaxing on our "dog" chair in the office.  In the past week Ever has learned how to walk with the gentle leader.  She's very cute on walks, where she'll look around at trees like she's never seen them before.  She seems very curious about what's going on around her.  She's also negotiated stairs for the first time.  Up and down.  She's even come down in the basement with me when I'm doing laundry.  Something our resident golden won't do.

We also learned she is great with cats and kids!  We took Ever to our friend's house the other night and introduced her to a cat that came out hissing.  Ever didn't give it a second glance as it ran by.  Ever also met the 2 year old and gave him a gentle lick.

Ever enjoys putting one of those extra large tennis balls in her mouth.  Its amazing to me she can fit the thing in there!  She's a smaller dog, and her nose is shorter than other female golden's I've seen, so its funny to see her playing with that ball.  She'll chase the ball outside and is super quick!  But most of the time, she'd rather stay inside with you and allow you to pet her as long as you'd like.  She tries to get on the furniture, but she's starting to learn that she's only allowed on the "dog" chair and the doggie bed.  At night we crated her for the first few days, and now we trust her enough to sleep on the floor in our bedroom.  She doesn't bother us at all during the night.  Although, the other night, she snuck her way up during a thunderstorm and was shaking thru the whole incident.

Overall, Ever's adjusting to her home life very nicely.  We're sure she'll make a perfect companion for someone out there!

Ever has moved up to the Twin Cities and is now living with her new foster home in St. Paul.  She adjusted to the change very quickly.  Ever went to the picnic on Saturday, went on the 5k walk, and had a great time meeting perspective families.

At her new foster home she gets along with our female resident golden and LOVES people.  She is a definate people dog and gives a lot of love.  She also LOVES balls and toys.  She always has one in her mouth and collects them in a pile.  We took Ever for a walk and she did just fine.  She slept in the kennel her first night here.  There was some crying for the first hour, but after that she slept through the night.  She is on the skinny side.  We are working on her gaining some weight.

Overall, Ever's first day in her new foster home has been great!
