Hi everyone!

My name is Penny and I am so happy to be part of RAGOM.  I am 8 years old and ready to start my new life with a new family.  The vet said I am part Great Pyrenees, in good shape and weigh in at about 69 pounds. I spent some time in a shelter in Iowa because my old family said I ran away from home and they didn't want to take me back.  Foster mom said she finds that hard to believe because I love to be near my foster family and am kind of like a shadow.  I really love being an inside dog!!  I love the soft dog beds and they even let me lay on the couch!!  I get along good with other dogs but think I would like to be an "only child'.  I like to have all the attention and get in trouble when I voice my feelings about the other dogs getting petted.  I just give a little growl but mom and dad said I cannot do that.  So, I hog as much attention as I can and mom says I give really nice kisses.  They say that I am a "chow hound" and I get a little pushy when somebody has food.  They do this funny thing and keep all the food inside cupboards and wayyyyyyy on top of the refrigerator!  So, I heard them say I should probably go to a home without little kids because I might accidentally knock them over if they have something that I want.

So, if you are looking for a low maintenance companion to hang out with, I might be your girl......let's talk!!!   Enjoy the snow and I will write again soon with some more pictures!!

Updates

This is my final update on our sweet Penny aka Maxine as she is becoming a resident of Minnesota with a fantastic new mom and big brother, Zeon (also a RAGOM dog).  She warmed right up to her new mom and there was nothing but tail wagging between her and Zeon.  Another happy ending in the making and I could not have let her go if I didn't believe this was the perfect place for her.  We feel lucky to have loved her for the past 7 months and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts

Enjoy the second chance that you have been given, little girl, and enjoy your forever family!  Know that we love you and will miss you.

Be happy and live long Henny Penny!!!

Hi Ho everyone!!  I am finally checking in and sorry for being so lazy about updating!!  Mom says I have just moved in and become one of the family.  But she also said I need to find my forever family before they have some kind of "failure".   I think she called it a "foster failure".  I am doing great and today I got to go to a picnic with lots and lots of Golden's.  I ran with them and then cooled off in the pool.  Check out my pictures!!  What I love most was all the people that were there and loved to pet me.  That was awesome.  Everyone kept saying how beautiful I am and couldn't believe I had not found my forever home.  I heard foster mom say that a nice lady might be coming to meet me in the near future so I am excited for that. FM and FD have been teaching me some manners too.  They have taught me how to sit when I get a treat or at meal time cause I guess I get a little "out of control".  I do this funny little butt bumping thing on the floor cause I get so excited but I have to sit still or I don't get the treat.  Mom thinks it is pretty funny.

Well, I am really wore out from my big day so I will say TTFN (tah tah for now).  Going to go hit the dog bed and take a little nap and I promise to be better about updating.

OK.  If you are in the market for a companion and have not asked about this girl......you are missing the boat!!!  Maxine aka Penny is a fantastic girl looking for a loving home.  She really has no bad habits that we have seen.  Now that we have been able to open the windows here and there we have noticed that she does not like motorcycles!!  She will bark and run to the window when she hears one go by.  So, unless you are part of a motorcycle gang........she would be great in your home!!  She always has a tail wag when you enter the room.....even if she is sound asleep! She has gotten along with all the dogs that have come in and out of our home and loves people of any size, shape and gender!!  She loves walks and loves to be petted.  She has not tried to get on our beds but she does like a soft couch or dog bed!!!  My husband put her on the bed one night and she was right up against my body acting like she was scared.  So we asked her to jump down, which she did and then headed for the couch!

If you would like to talk, please contact RAGOM!  I would love to sing the praises of this sweet girl!!!

Sorry for not updating sooner but we have been busy and quite honestly, this girl feels like part of the family!!  She is such a good dog and fits in so well that we sometimes forget she is a foster!

She gets along great with other dogs and was wonderful with my grandson!!  I still think she would be better with bigger kids as she does like food although she has gotten better!  She loves attention and is going to make someone a great, low maintenance companion!

Please, contact RAGOM if you think this sweet girl could be for you!!!

Just a quick update on Maxine/aka Penny.  She was turned over to RAGOM by a shelter in Iowa after her owners were found but didn't want her back.  The shelter indicated that her previous home had just been deemed "unlivable for humans" so maybe running away (if in fact that is what happened) was a good move on her part.  She is doing so well in our home.  She gets along with the dogs good...other than our male Chow mix.  She seems to have some issues with him getting too close to her or us.  She just growls a little when he gets too close to her or if he is getting "the love" and she is not.  We have not had any fights so I think she is just letting him know a thing or two. She is the most affectionate foster that we have ever had.  She needs someone who is willing to give her lots of attention.  She will be under your feet as she loves to be near you but will go lay down if you are firm with her.  She loves to roll on her back on the couch and be silly!!  She sleeps all night on our couch in the living room with no problem. I think she would love to sleep in the bedroom with us but our 14 year old golden always gets the dog bed first!!! Not sure if she got regular meals in the past so food is a big thing for her. Counters need to be cleared off if you are going to be gone or out of the room.  I have not seen her around kids but I cannot imagine she would have a problem.  My grandson will be here at Christmas so that will be a good test. If you are looking for a loving companion who takes very little care, this is your girl!!  She walks nice on a leash and is happy to do her "business" on a tie out.  She doesn't need much.....just a loving touch and a healthy home!  Please, if you would like to talk to me, contact RAGOM!!!  She is going to make someone very happy!!!
