Bucky 16-108

Profile

In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Date Posted Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
 6/4/16  No Yes  Optional Yes
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Lucky Buck is a very good looking Golden Retriever. He just turned 14 on March 27th . Buck is neutered & current on his vaccines. He is heartworm negative & is taking Heartgard preventative. He is also taking some medicine for his arthritis & an antibiotic for some abscessed teeth.

Buck enjoys short walks, naps & just being around his foster family. He ignores the cats. He watches the family dog & chimes in with a deep woof or two when the family dog barks at the neighbors.

Buck went to the groomer and it made him so happy, he was smiling on the car ride home. Many thanks to Pet Salon Bark Avenue in Burnsville, MN for the free grooming!! He travels well but needs a boost into the car or a ramp to walk up. Because of his arthritis, he needs a boost to get up from laying down. A home that doesn't have many steps & a floor that isn't slippery would be best

Bucky “Buck” smiled on Earth and is also smiling today with his angel wings. Even though Buck was not with us for long, he was such a sweet happy boy.

There is the saying, “Dogs leave paw prints on your heart." Buck left them and took a place in many people's hearts.

Buck, we are forever grateful for your presence, you have filled our lives with joy and happiness. We are going to miss your fluffy smiling ball of beautiful fur. I wish we had had more time with you, but I know you are now running and rolling in the grass pain free. We love you!

Buck's mouth is healed from his dental extractions. He's able to eat dry kibble now. He's getting some green beans with it, as he's a little overweight. He really seems to enjoy it.

To help him get more activity in his day, we've put a ramp in place of the steps to the backyard. Buck can now go out & explore the yard instead of just having leashed walks. This should help with his weight loss & strengthen his muscles, which hopefully will make it easier for him to get up from laying down.

This past Thursday , Buck had 9 teeth extracted because of dental disease. The surgery & cleaning took about 3 1/2 hours because his teeth were fused to his jawbone. The dental disease was severe. He's now on the mend. He's eating softened dog food. He's taking a different antibiotic & the same medicine for pain & inflammation which will help his mouth as well as his arthritis.  He will go back for a recheck the end of June.

Buck went to his first meet & greet at Chuck and Don's in Shakopee on Saturday .  He met many new dogs & people. He enjoyed lots of belly rubs. He explored the store & its many good smelling treats.

This past week, his vet changed his arthritis medication. Since then, when he's on an area rug instead of our slippery tile & hardwood floors, Buck is getting up without any help.

Each day he plays with our family dog. He likes our walks in the coolness of the morning & early evenings. He likes to sprawl out on the tile to cool off.

He is not a beggar when we're are eating, he just watches politely in case we have pizza "bones".
