We adopted Addison in January of 2017. We had lost the last of our two senior goldens, Cooper, the previous June. We saw Addison on RAGOM and she looked just like our other RB bridge golden Kaiya. We had room in our hearts and lives for another sugar face.
She was guessed to be about 10 so we prepared ourselves for lazy golden days. This was not to be as Addie was a pistol! She was wicked smart and very sassy!
On one of our first walks she was rolling in grass and I gave her a quick let’s go whistle. She gave me a look best described as “buzz off” and continued rolling until she was satisfied. We still laugh about this today.
She was also loving and enjoyed having her ears scratched. Addie very much enjoyed fresh grass and snow as well. When we lived in Bloomington she played in Nine Mile Creek. We moved to Lakeville to a house where we fenced the very large back yard. She would trot out and bark to announce her presence to no one in particular.
The outdoors were her domain. She would often snooze in the soft grass in the shade of a favorite pine tree. Two of her favorite things were car rides and dinner time! The master bath with its cooler tile became Addie’s bedroom. She would often go to bed without us if we were deemed to be dawdling.
As Addie slowed down I built a ramp off the back steps so she could more easily get into the back yard. In September of 2018 her eating became irregular. We tried different meds for appetite, and prednisone amongst other things.
At the end she stopped eating and we knew it was nearly time. Not before a road trip to Iowa to see her foster mom. She had a great day with visiting, walking and eating deer poop (yuck).
On the way home she had a hamburger, a chicken nugget or two and some fries. We were hopeful that the meds were helping and she would start eating, but it was not to be as that turned out to be her last meal.
We said goodbye to Addie on November 6, 2018. It was our pleasure and an adventure to have Addison in our lives these nearly two years. Like all goldens our lives were changed and we will never be quite the same again.
Godspeed Addie “the wonder dog”. We will miss you more than you know.

Sweet Addie has found her forever home that she is so deserving of. Her new Mom and Dad had recently lost their two senior Goldens and felt their home was just not the same without a 'sugar face' to greet them each day and to reap the benefits of all the love and attention that they have been unable to give in the last many months.
It was so clear that Addison will be loved, spoiled, petted, walked and loved some more. She was surrendered to RAGOM when she was no longer wanted. With having her for the last 3 months, almost to the day, it is inconceivable how that could be.
But....that is the past. Here is to your future, sweet Addie! I will miss you....
Thank you M. and H. It was my pleasure.
Addie has been with me for over 6 weeks and is showing just how charming she can be. She loves chasing squirrels and rabbits out of 'her' yard, and will circle the tree waiting for that pesky squirrel to make a wrong move.
She is more energetic now that she is comfortable here, and does well on a two mile walk with her foster brother Coop; she prances and wags her tail the whole time! We have been using the Gentle Leader and she is doing great! She barks at other dogs on our walk but not aggressively, especially the smaller yippy dogs - they seem to egg her on. She loves to explore and LOVES rooting around in the snow.
She has not lost her excitement for breakfast and dinner times, so we are working with sit and stay. She's coming along just fine. Addie is such a joy. She is darn near perfect.
If you are looking for an older companion (even though she doesn't act like it), a sweet girl that sleeps on the floor/on a dog bed, all night, doesn't jump on the furniture, is so very easy to care for and has no problem with run of the house, please consider meeting Addie. She wants only love and attention in return.
Well folks, it's time for an update. I had the greatest weekend!
I had a bath -
Chewed on a stick -
Looked pitiful -
And topped it all off by going to the Meet and Greet in Mason City, IA on Saturday -
FM and her sister took me, and they were so busy talking they forgot I was in the back! I am a great passenger, and not once did I try to jump out. Why would I want to be anywhere besides with someone who loves me, feeds me, and gives me not one, but three different beds to choose from at night? I met all kinds of people that gave me pets and rubs, and we got to hang out by the ferret cage. I liked to watch them but they didn't get me too excited.
I am a very happy girl and would love to find a family that loves me, spends time with me and gives me the chance to make them happy, too. FM says I am sooooo easy to have around. I can go to bed early and sleep late! I'm not picky.
I love breakfast and dinner time, and I love walks. I get along with all my furry canine acquaintances, I just have to put them in check once in a while.....a couple of stern barks do the trick. I have 2 Foster brothers, one is 10 so we get along great, we both like to sleep in FM's office and the other one is 6, so he has a bit more energy, but he likes to sleep too, and he is very good to me.
Time to run. I think I will let FM do the next update, it's tiring.
